Fruits of My Labour!

A garden planter box with healthy green plants.

I know I have mentioned it before...but I LOVE my little garden! There is something so healing that happens when I spend time connecting with Mother Nature with my hands in the earth. Some of my fondest childhood memories are in the garden with my dad ~ learning about how everything grows, how it is connected, why that matters. As a young adult, some of my favorite memories in the making are playing in the soil with my little yogini with the hopes of those same memories being cherished by her too!

Beyond the act of connecting with the earth, I love the connection to the foods we consume. REAL food! One thing I love about preparing foods grown in my garden, is that I am inspired by what is ready to be harvested! Flavours just beg to be combined and lovely treats result. Today, after an afternoon of collecting our current harvest, I walked into my kitchen with three buckets filled with potatoes, leek, pounds of tomatoes of 6 different varieties, celery, basil, parsley and thyme.

The result? A BEAUTIFUL cream free, creamy tomato soup! YUMMMM! Absolutely full with flavour, and even more fully packed with nutrients! I was so excited to have this dish where the only ingredient that didn't come from my garden was the Olive Oil...anyone know if Olives grow on our west coast? next year:)

Happy Harvesting, dear souls!
