Hallowe'en Hangover Solution

Happy Hallowe'en out there! I hope you have all had a happy and safe holiday! Though all the scare factors associated with this day are not my favorite, I do love seeing all the kidlets out in costume! I am grateful to live in a neighbourhood filled with little pumpkins, princesses, pirates, etc. and an elephant of my own:) What fun!

One of the tricky parts of the trick or treating tradition, can be the temptation for overindulgence and the resulting sugar hangover...for yogini's and grown-ups alike. If it is too late to remind you of the importance of modertation (again, both for yogini's and grown-ups), here are some tips for giving your body some help in working through that sugar rush/crash/hangover...

  1. Drink LOTS of water to detoxify your system ~ flush the junk out!
  2. Eat fiber rich foods. Fiber helps reduce sugar cravings (which may increase right after a binge the day before). Fiber gives long lasting energy and raises serotonin levels to improve your mood.
  3. Get moving. It may be the last thing you feel like doing, but getting the blood flowing is the perfect remedy.
  4. Drink some ginger or peppermint tea. Both will calm an upset stomach, plus the warm liquid is gentle on your digestive system, and will provide another way to get more liquid into your body to flush out the toxins.
  5. Do yoga ~ join me tomorrow for Mixed Levels Yoga focused on giving those digestive systems a little love and/or try these poses on your own:

Hope these little tips help you get back to feeling well!

Namaste
