January? Check. February? TBA.

Gaol planner for 2010

Early last month I shared a goal I had for myself for January in Drink up!: to rehydrate.  I am happy to announce that I am well on track and back on the infamous wagon. I have started most days with a big glass of water before eating, giving my digestive system a gentle wake up.  I have started carrying water with me everywhere again.  Also, I bought a new stainless steel water bottle from lululemon...my thinking? Just like with a new pair on yoga pants you just have to wear to class that night, my new water bottle would just call out to me to be used. Successful? So far, so good.

I have enjoyed the experience of sharing my goal with you so that you can help hold me accountable!  Sharing goals and dreams works completely opposite telling a birthday wish, it makes them more likely to come true!

In honour of love, hearts, and all things February; this month I will more actively practice ahimsa or non-harming, one of the foundations of yoga. I will practice being mindful of what I say to myself, and this month I will focus this practice of ahimsa on my mat.

“Love yourself—accept yourself—forgive yourself—and be good to yourself, because without you the rest of us are without a source of many wonderful things.” ~ Leo F. Buscaglia

You may not know, but I battle regularly with the remains of a dislocated hip...one of my physical reminders of birthing my little yogini.  I often struggle with the process of redefining my practice required to accommodate this physical change. This month my focus is to be mindful of the conversations I have with myself on my mat,  while working with my injury en route to finding peace, acceptance, and love with what my practice is right now.

I would love for you to share your goals for this month so that we can hold each other accountable! What is your BIG February dream?

Namaste
