Relaxation for the Time You've Got!

An inviting chair on a tropical beach.

"The time to relax is when you don't have time for it." ~ Attributed to both Jim Goodwin and Sydney J. Harris

Those of us that lead a very busy life, need most to take time to slow down and replenish the well we keep drawing from...but when?!? You may not believe it, but there are lots of sneaky little pockets of time in your day that you can enjoy! Here is a list (most of which you can do anywhere) of slow down your heart rate, roll the stress off your shoulders, think a little more clearly treats...

got 10 seconds?  breathe. close your eyes. take a slow, deep inhalation filling your belly then your chest. for the exhalation, just let go...of the breath and any stresses...see yourself blowing your worries away.

got 1 minute?  stretch. shuffle to the front of a chair. feel the soles of your feet pressed into the ground. inhale to sit up tall, and exhale to turn your heart and your gaze to your right size. pause for a breath. inhale to sit up tall and exhale to come back to centre. do the same on the other side.

got 5 minutes? meditate. either set a timer for 5 minutes, close your eyes, find a comfortable seat and enjoy just being still and quiet.  feel like you need a little guidance to quiet your racing mind? enjoy a audio recorded meditation.

got 15 minutes? read. find something inspiring and uplifting to rejuvenate and shift your perspective of the day.

got 1/2 hour? go for a walk. breathe some fresh air and get some blood moving through your system.

got 1 hour?  join us for a weekly yoga and meditation or Pilates class.

got 1 1/2 hours?  join us for weekly mixed levels yoga.

got a couple hours?  volunteer. spend some time helping a cause you are passionate about to distract your mind and help others (either people, animals or the earth).

got a day?  be a tourist in your own town. hit up the art galleries. take a day hike and picnic. check out a new flick.
