A Woman of Substance
During the closing chats at the yoUnlimited Conference that happening in Victoria last week, Carolyne Taylor (organizer and founder of yoUnlimited) shared a poem that not only moved me, but also many other women in the audience. I would like to share it with you here...
A Woman of Substance
Every so often on the road of life,
you meet a woman that touches you deep within.
It is the woman who has a quiet demeanor, but a core of steel.
It is the woman who has experienced adversity,
only to rise above it.
It is the woman who has faced trials and sadness,
emerging with compassionate tenderness for all that is fragile.
It is the woman who thought she could not go on, only to discover that she
could not let go of the passion she has for life.
It is the woman who had moments of weakness, only to step back and
refocus on what was really important in life.
It is the woman who is willing to give her all to her children,
encouraging them to be all that they can be.
It is the woman, who looks with hope at storm clouds,
knowing that they are clearing the skies for the sun to shine.
It is the woman who recognizes someone she meets for the first time,
as mirroring her core values and determination;
moving her to share all that she has learned.
It is this woman who deserves the same love, care and attention
that she gives to everyone else.
This is a woman of substance.
